USS Nimitz 2004: The Encounter the Pentagon Couldn’t Deny

2026.06.15 · 2 MIN READ · 305 WORDS

DECLASSIFIED FILE // CEC-2004, 2026

The Best Pilots in the World. The Best Radar in the World. No Explanation.

November 2004. The USS Nimitz Carrier Strike Group is running routine exercises off the coast of San Diego. Operators aboard the USS Princeton, equipped with the AEGIS radar system, the most advanced in the Navy, begin tracking anomalous objects. The objects drop from 80,000 feet to near sea level in seconds. Then hover. Then move again.

The Encounter

Commander David Fravor and his wingman are dispatched to investigate. What they found: a white, oval object approximately 40 feet long, no wings, no visible exhaust, no identifying markings. It was hovering over a disturbance in the water, something beneath the surface was also generating movement. When Fravor attempted to close in, the object accelerated and vanished in under two seconds. Fravor has over 3,000 hours in combat jets. He stated he had never seen anything like it and does not believe it is human technology.

The Video

The FLIR video captured by Fravor’s F/A-18 was leaked in 2007 and officially declassified by the Pentagon in 2020. It shows the object performing maneuvers that violate what we understand about aerodynamics: no visible propulsion, instantaneous acceleration, directional changes at speeds that would destroy any known material and any human pilot inside it.

What the Pentagon Said

In 2020, the Department of Defense confirmed the video’s authenticity. It said the object was “unidentified.” It offered no explanation. It did not close the case. The Nimitz object remains, officially: unidentified.

Why It Matters

The Nimitz encounter does not depend on civilian witnesses, blurry photographs, or memories from decades prior. It has military targeting system video, dual radar confirmation, and sworn testimony from elite combat pilots. If there is one case the credibility infrastructure of the modern world cannot dismiss, it is this one.
