On April 6, 1966, at 11 a.m., more than 200 students and teachers at Westall High School in Clayton South, Victoria, Australia, watched a silver, circular object descend over the adjacent sports field, land briefly, and ascend again. In broad daylight. In front of everyone.
What Happened Next
Several students ran toward the object. Some reached it before it ascended. They described a silver disc that left a circular depression in the grass where it had rested. Trees at the perimeter showed evidence of heat or pressure. The marks on the ground were photographed by students before authorities arrived.
The Official Response
Men in suits arrived at the school that same day. Teachers were called into meetings. Students were told not to discuss the incident. One teacher who had taken photographs reported that her photos disappeared. The school principal asked students to let the matter go. The official explanation that circulated afterward: an experimental aircraft from the RAAF. The RAAF denied having any operations in the area that day.
The Witnesses, Decades Later
In documentaries produced in the 2000s, dozens of former students, now adults, maintained their accounts. There are no significant inconsistencies between the testimonies. Everyone describes the same thing: a silver disc, ground presence, rapid vertical ascent, and an institutional response that made clear something significant had occurred.

Researchers filing Freedom of Information requests with Australian military archives searched for records of the incident. The relevant files do not exist, were destroyed according to routine schedules, or remain classified. For 200 witnesses, there is no official record that confirms or explains what they saw.
